Lucy joined the team in 2022, and it's fair to say her energy, enthusiasm, and the occasional practical joke played on her teammates have brought smiles to many races since.

From a cycling family, Lucy started racing at 13 with the well-known Otley Cycle Club in the White Rose Youth League. Even in those early years, Lucy's steely determination was evident. Having been dropped in every race in her first year, she won both the White Rose League and the NE Youth League the following season. At this point, she started to train seriously, researching and improving her race preparation.

Being coached as a junior at 16 was transformative for Lucy, with the expert support building her confidence, instilling discipline, and trust in her training. Despite Covid, 2020 was a breakthrough year, with Lucy winning hill climbs and time trials. In 2021, she joined Crimson Performance Race Team, followed shortly after by a move to Skoda Academy where she entered her first senior race. The move to the senior peloton built more confidence, and Lucy soon found herself at the front of races.

She joined us in 2022 and being part of the team has developed Lucy's racing skills, and she enjoys being part of the mutually supportive group, looking out for each other, working as a team, and contributing to success.

As well as the team joker, Lucy is a formidable bike mechanic and can often be found checking over Rick's bike adjustments! During the 2023 season beset with injury and illness, Lucy could often be found preparing the bikes and filling the role of mechanic in the team car.

While more concerned with her own racing rather than watching it, Lucy lives close to Lizzie Deignan, sees her out on the roads regularly, and has always looked up to her. She even has some of Lizzie's old kit! Lucy is also a big fan of Marianne Vos, admiring her determination and discipline to dominate for so long.

Lucy loves long, steep climbs, descending, and technical circuits which suit her natural bike handling skills and 'all-rounder' style of racing. The highlight of her young racing career is winning the Tour Series with the team where she enjoyed working well together, delivering consistent results, and achieving team goals.

The 2023 season was Lucy's greatest challenge, overcoming illness and fatigue, but it's great to see that she's now close to being back to her best.

When not racing, Lucy's a budding drummer and has a broad taste in music (drum & bass for motivation on the bike). Otherwise, she'll be in the workshop tinkering with her bikes to make sure everything's operating perfectly.

Unsurprisingly, Lucy's cycling pet hate is people not looking after their bikes, but with her always willing to assist, it's unlikely she'll get upset with any of her teammates!
