Bexy Dew

After a year back in the road racing peloton with Saint Piran, Bexy joined the team and has developed into a key member of the group thanks to her combative style of racing.

Achievements include victory in the Western Hill Climb series, 5th place at the National Hill Climb Championships, 5th overall in the National Road Race Series and 10th in the Circuit Series 2023 and South Region Road Race Champion 2023.

Despite such a sparkling list of achievements, Bexy is perhaps most proud of supporting the team's successes, getting into breakaways and breaking up races in support of her team mates.

The time commitments of her racing and career, combined with the stress of striving to be a good doctor, cyclist and reservist are Bexy's main challenges and she's grateful and feels very lucky to be able to draw on the support of her partner who understands the demands on a cyclist; time, sleep and nutrition.

Having rode on a turbo trainer extensively during lock-down, Bexy now prefers to train aoutdoors whenever she can, training indoors only if absolutely necessary and enjoying some time in Spain over the winter for the good weather.

Away from cycling, when she can find the time, Bexy enjoys spending time with her pet house Rabbit, George, who can often be found at races, cheering the team on!

She also enjoys playing the piano and violin but when on the bike, turns to random Spotify playlists to keep her motivated.

When asked what her cycling pet hate is, Bexy claims it's the times her cycling computer pauses mid-climb due to her going too slow, I find this hard to believe though and can't imagine she's experienced this phenomenon for a few years now!

Bexy enters her third year with the team in 2024 and loves nothing more than hilly, attritional races, especially stage races, as demonstrated at last year's Tour Cycliste Féminin International de l'Ardèche.

Another member of the team juggling a demanding career, a doctor training to be a GP, Bexy even manages to fit in the duties of an army reserve medical officer, which requires her to dedicate 27 days to training and operations.

From buying a bike at university to supplement her running and swimming to start triathlon, Bexy soon found a love of distance riding, taking part in Audax's as well as taking a year out to explore Northern Thailand on her bike, both alone and with her partner.

Bexy's racing began in 2018 when she entered the Army Reserve Championships and found herself off the front of the race, soloing to victory.

With that victory under her belt she was invited to a training camp by the Army Cycling Race Team and raced the Army Road Race Series before her first British Cycling Road Race, all in 2018.

As with so many riders of this generation, Covid disrupted progress but Bexy transferred her focus onto Zwift racing, racing for Canyon E-Sports, and, as they opened up again, hill climbs.
